Screenshot Sidekick Privacy Policy

Your screenshots stay on your Mac
Screenshot Sidekick reads screenshots from the current macOS screenshot destination and displays them on your Mac. Imported images are copied into that folder. Original screenshots stay in their existing location. Normal installations store settings, card history and reversible edits in the app’s Application Support area. Development builds may keep this app data in the shared project folder.
The app stores folder-permission bookmarks and a random installation identifier in its macOS preferences so it can reopen authorized folders and keep each Mac’s settings separate. Hipposcape does not receive your screenshots, filenames, card history, installation identifier, recognized text or app settings. The app includes no analytics, advertising, tracking or account system and makes no network requests.
Folder access and screenshot setup
Screenshot Sidekick reads only the macOS screenshot-destination preferences to find the current folder. It never changes those preferences and does not record your screen. It tries existing access first and asks for folder permission only when macOS denies access. You control any changes to the destination through macOS Screenshot Options.
Image editing and text recognition
Markup, crop and opaque covers are saved as reversible edits without modifying the original. Copying, sharing, dragging, Save Copy and Open in Preview render those edits into the exported image. Copy Text and image-content search use Apple Vision on your Mac, from the current rendered image excluding covered details. Recognized text is not persisted or sent to a server.
Your sharing choices
You choose where images go when you drag, share, save, open in another app or copy them to the clipboard. Receiving apps handle the information under their own practices. If a screenshot or app-data folder is synced by Dropbox, iCloud Drive or another service, that service may sync it under your settings and its privacy policy. Screenshot Sidekick does not send it to the service itself.
Keeping and deleting files
Clear removes a card from the holder without deleting the screenshot. Trash moves the original image to recoverable Mac Trash through macOS. You control retention and permanent deletion through Finder. Removing the app does not automatically delete screenshots from their existing folder.
